Motorhomes And Travel Trailers Ontario A Great Choice For Your Vacation

By Virginia Rogers

When thinking of a holiday many people now decide to opt for motorhomes and travel trailers Ontario rather than a motel or other accommodation. Either of these option are an ideal way to see more of your chosen destination. Before deciding it is worth doing some research.

The first option, motorhomes have many benefits. They are self powered, so no need for a towing vehicle and equipped with everything you need. These vehicles range from a small two berth unit starting from around 20, 000 dollars to the most luxurious at 150, 000 plus depending on specification. These high end units are fully loaded with satellite television, plush leather sofas and even jacuzzis. If buying a brand new one the buyer can also purchase and empty shell and have it fitted out to their own design.

A travel trailer is another option. Although not self powered so you will need a vehicle to tow your unit they are a good alternative. Sleeping between 2 and 10 depending on size many of these are also fitted out to a very high standard. When deciding on a trailer it is important to ensure that the tow vehicle has enough power for the size of unit. It is well worth talking to your trailer salesman on Hamilton, ON as they will advise you on type and size of car or pick up to suit your needs.

Another route is to rent a unit for your vacation. A midsized motorhome can be hired for around 1500 dollars per week and a trailer at slightly less. This is also a good option before planning to purchase one as it gives the buyer a chance to evaluate the vehicle and decide on size and specification before making a final decision.

A major factor in both of these options is fuel costs. If towing a 4 berth trailer you will be looking at 8 to 12 miles per gallon. A motorhome will use more returning around 5 to 8 miles per gallon. Also bear in mind insurance premiums, due to the contents and specification of these units your costs will be fairly high.

When deciding where to stay for the night or longer periods there are many choices. There are holiday parks and campsites a plenty and start from around 10 dollars per unit per night. Larger more well developed sites with supermarkets, diners and bars will work out at around 50 dollars per night. Water, electric and other services maybe an extra charge depending on the chosen site.

Both options need much consideration. When opting for motorhome bear in mind that if you have a mechanical problem that needs attention you may lose your accommodation whilst it is being fixed. By choosing a trailer if this did happen you still have somewhere to stay and can always hire another car or truck if you wish to continue your tour.

Whether you choose a motorhome or a trailer they are a great way to live, spend a holiday or even a much longer road trip. The freedom these units give is worth the outlay. This is an ideal way to tour many places without being tied to a base.
