Information On Pronghorn Antelope Hunts

By Scott Lee

Hunting refers to killing of animals by humans or by other animals in order to acquire food. In the case of animals, the animal that is hunted is called the prey for instance antelope while the hunting animal is the predator like the lion. There are numerous ways of hunting depending on the type of prey being hunted. Pronghorn antelope hunts offer hunters good experience.

Wildlife service classifies hunting into two main categories, that is, legal and illegal. Legal hunting takes place when one hunts animals that are not classified as protected by the wildlife service. Thus, the hunter cannot be convicted for breaking the law. The hunter is usually permitted to engage in the activity. On the other hand, illegal hunting is when one hunts protected animals or inflicts malicious injury to animals. Many refer to it as poaching.

Hunting techniques are numerous, as the process does not only involve the animals that are found on land alone but also those that live in water. In fishing there are various reliable methods that may be used such fishing rod, use of nets, use of spears and also fishing baskets among other methods. The animals on land can be trapped, baited, rifled, speared or bowed.

The size of the prey can determine the suitable method that can be used for hunting it. Baiting is a method that is appropriate for small animals and those that have less physical strength such as birds. The hunter puts a bait to attract attention of the animal or bird and then captures it before it takes off.

For those animals with strong physical bodies and energy, a hunter can use arrows and bows since they are clever and not easy to be baited. Where other methods cannot be used successfully, rifles may be used. Rifles provide security to the hunter against the animals, which can be very dangerous in some cases. Using rifles can cause a lot of harm to the jungle besides being an expensive option.

During hunting the hunters usually chase the animals to areas of discomfort so that they can easily catch them. These places make the animals to give in as they cannot escape and can be easily captured. The caves are mostly used whereby a hunter chases the animal to the cave and attacks it from the entrance. The animal cannot escape this for there is no other entrance.

Dogs are sometimes used to hunt animals when speed is a vital skill for capturing the animal. Dogs chase the animal around until it grabs it with its teeth or it is fatigued and surrenders. Animals like the hare are a good example where this method can bear fruit. It is important for the hunter to train the dog before making an adventure.

Generally, the hunter must be sure of the region or habitat of the prey. They should also be able to detect the behavior of the animal when exposed to different conditions. For example, it is good for the angler to know where the fish is positioned. That increases the chances of success.
