By giving 10% of all they have to the church they put themselves in a place to be showered with blessings when the time is right and provide the necessary base for others to serve the church.
With that said, all of the above is not done in blind faith, as scholars of the bible are made aware of any disadvantages, or to place it in a better context alerted of any dangers and negative effects of tithing in the wrong manner or with the wrong intentions.
