An Introduction To Kitesurf For Beginners

By Dorothy Thompson

Kite surfing is an extreme sport that has been attracting very many people all over the world. It involves sailing and windsurfing with the use of a kite. Kitesurf is spectacular when done in a place with shallow and open waters with very few obstructions for the kite.

The gear used in kite surfing is usually portable and this allows the surfer to enjoy the sport in a wide range of winds. It is always advisable for beginners to learn using low winds as the winds are gentler. It is not always easy to identify the dangers of kite surfing especially when you are watching kite surfers from the shore. It can be a dangerous sport if the wind is strong with a lot of power controlling the kite.

Before you can rent or buy the kite surfing equipment, you need to have some basic certificate showing that you know how to surf. Most of the shops will not allow you to rent or buy anything related to kite surfing without providing this certification. They consider the risks too high for this extreme sport.

The sport is considered to be high risk and highly rewarding at the same time. Surfers always treat the ocean with respect while at the same time putting safety first before having fun. If you are a risk taker and can picture yourself riding waves on a beautiful beach then consider joining in the fun of this extreme sport.

You will be required to start the training before you can get into the water. The most basic training starts with kite steering techniques. This is the first training you will need to undergo before you can learn any of the kite surfing techniques. Trainers will advise you on mastering the steering of the kites before you can start surfing. Once you master this, the rest of the training can take up to 4 hours. Afterward, you will get your certificate that will allow you to hire or buy the equipment to start having fun.

There is a lot of freedom and the desire to express yourself in kite surfing. This is what attracts many people to the sport as they desire to ride waves and follow the wind. You must also remember to respect the environment especially the wind as you surf. This is the practice of most surfers as they express themselves with complex and spectacular freestyle techniques.

There are competitions that are held in various parts of the world where competitors showcase their skills to a panel of judges. In the freestyle technique competition, which is the most competitive, the competitors are given limited time to perform in limited space. The judges shortlist the best two competitors who then battle it out for the prize.

The judges usually check on various things in the competition. Firstly they award points for the maximum height reached by the competitors as they perform their stunts. They also look at the technical difficulty of the stunts and moves done by each of the competitors. The high points are awarded to the surfer who portrays a lot of moves and styles and executes them with power.
