By Enid Hinton

Poverty is a problem that affects all countries worldwide. It is found in the urban and even in the rural areas. In urban areas, it is seen in the poor and unsafe housing, slums and pollution while in the rural areas it is experienced in terms of lack of facilities such as food, health services and schools. Education helps us in fighting poverty. It not only contributes in making people successful as they attain higher levels of education but also there are other alternative education effects on poverty.

So many opportunities are associated with going to schools. They are mainly found in the scholarships and sponsorships. When one is a bright student but cannot pay his or her fees, there are organizations that are always ready to aid in the paying of the fees. Also in sports, students are sponsored to go out of the country just to harness their talents.

One learns the basic knowledge about everything around him. How things works and what makes them work. This helps in stirring up the creativity of an individual. It helps him come up with things that make life easier for himself and those that are around him. He can make a very significant change to the development of his country and the world at large.

At school one is taught how to effectively communicate with others. Communication is found in almost every aspect of life which makes it very necessary. Your responses and how you express your self can determine whether or not you are going to get a job. Communication skills are therefore very necessary in creating good relations.

In learning institutions, one interacts with all kinds of people. People from different races, backgrounds and personalities. This interaction helps one know how to live with other people. This helps one to avoid unnecessary conflicts such as tribal wars. Conflicts are a great contributor to levels of poverty.

Acquiring diverse knowledge impacts one with the necessary life skills. It helps one to make sound decisions for the betterment of his life and that of others. Good decisions ensure all, or the majority are the beneficiaries. They also ensure fairness and equality in the distribution of the various types of resources.

Other handy skills are also learnt in these institutions. They include artwork, tailoring, good cooking, welding, construction and many others. These skills are mostly done out of passion and talent. It makes most of the people that explore them produce high quality results. In so doing, they are able to raise their living standards and eradicate poverty on their area.

Through education one is able to see a brighter future. It gives them the morale to work even harder for the benefit of others and for ourselves. It brings hope to those who seem to have already given up on life. It helps you find your purpose in life and lets you live for that purpose.

Education has innumerably effects to those who have been affected by poverty. It enlightens people and helps them see the world from a different point of view. Education is acquiring knowledge that will help better your life. Knowledge is power.
