What One Should Know About Miami Deep Sea Fishing

By Patrick Perry

Deep sea fishing is a kind of angling that is done further from the land in deep waters. It is also referred to as sport, big game, or offshore boat fishing. To be considered so, the depth of the water should be at least thirty meters. In Miami deep sea fishing is a service provided to the public by several companies within the locality. This activity is often considered a way of spending a vacation and many people enjoy it.

Big game fishing has many aspects that make it different from ordinary one. First, it takes place at great depths in seas. People get exposed to deep sea fish varieties living there. Sharks, marlin, tuna, and swordfish are major examples of such fish species.

The named fish species prefer deeper parts of the ocean because they provide enough space and lots of food sources. They cannot be found near the shore under normal circumstances. Catching these fishes can be a challenge that most people enjoy. It is entertaining and at the same time can provide food for the fishers. However, some people are only interested in the entertainment and release the fish back into the water eventually.

The expedition involves chartering a water vessel for a day. Boats come with all the fishing and safety gear and equipment including nets and life jackets for the activity. Tour guides are usually available to accompany tourists. Guides offer assistance and advice and propel the vessel. Everyone is allowed to fish under the charter acquired.

Most trips end at dusk where the boat is returned to the owner. Most people take picture of themselves with their catch. This is almost a tradition because almost everyone that goes on the expedition does it. As the expedition starts, the boat is navigated far from the land, mostly to a place where land cannot be seen. These are the prime fishing areas.

There are many different methods used to fish once at the desirable spot. Some involve using spears, hooks, or nets. People prefer different methods. Regardless of the method preferred, the most enjoyed moment is the fight to bring fish onboard. Game fish do not allow to be brought onboard that easily. They fight fiercely for long. Some big tunas can last over four hours before tiring.

The process can be physically exhausting for some people. Once caught there are many things to do with the fish. Some people, especially those interested in the fun alone release the fish after catching it. Some take it home as food while others tag them for research purposes.

In Miami, there are laws that regulate this activity. The laws are meant to prevent overexploitation of game fish by people. For instance, all fish caught must be logged with the authorities before being taken home. There is also a limit on the size of catch per trip.
