Looking For A Right Hand Drive Camaro Conversion

By Donna Parker

If you own an American made car, you may want to make some alterations and turn it into a right hand drive model. If you plan to drive the car abroad, you can use it and stay within the law, but converting it will make things much easier. When trying to find a right hand drive camaro conversion, there are things to think about beforehand.

Before you make any major modifications to your vehicle there are a few things you need to bear in mind. If your car is still covered by the manufacturer warranty, it will no longer be valid after the work has been carried out. When you plan on selling the vehicle, you may find that you do not get its full market value. You will also need to notify your insurance providers and there will probably be a slight increase in your annual payments.

The changes needed, will include moving the basic controls, such as foot pedals and steering wheel. Other parts of the car will also need attention such as the headlights, safety belts and interior switches. Some work may be done to the brakes and suspension to ensure the vehicle can be driven safely.

You can do this conversion work yourself using a kit which is the least costly way of moving the controls on your car. Specialist kit packages can be purchased in many car parts stores and they are widely available on the web. When you choose this low cost option it should be noted that the results are crude and many parts will be clearly visible to the driver and passengers.

A better way to get these mechanical modifications done is to hand your vehicle to a specialized engineering company that does conversions. This is going to be more expensive but the finish will be far better than a kit job and the car will appear as if it is original. Another advantage with this option is that all of the modifications will be covered by the firms guarantee.

When you are looking around your neighborhood, you may find a specialist conversion firm that can do the necessary work on your vehicle. A large number of firms will advertise in motoring magazines and local newspapers and others can be found whilst browsing the internet. It can also be worth speaking to an auto mechanic in your area and ask them if they do conversions or if they can recommend a firm that does.

When you have chosen a firm to do the work you will need to get in touch and arrange things. They will examine your camaro and work out what modifications are needed before giving you a price. You should contact a few different companies for prices and this will allow you to compare before making a final decision.

When you are happy with a price your car can be collected or you can take it to the workshop. It will be difficult to give a completion date as each vehicle will require varying amounts of modification. When you collect your vehicle, the engineers will issue you with some important certificates stating the vehicle has passed inspection, and you should keep this paperwork in a safe place.
