Sensible Gift Baskets For College Students Flagstaff Kids Love To Receive

By Peter Hill

Going off to school is an exciting adventure for most kids. It's the first real taste of independence for many of them. Their parents are usually biting their nails and insisting on making plans for every possible scenario and creating lists of clothes, furnishings, and incidentals to pack. Once safely settled in, kids are always in need of extras. That's why they so eagerly anticipate the gift baskets for college students Flagstaff parents keep sending.

Cookies, candy, and snacks are fine, but kids will need a little more nourishment than that at some point. A care package filled with microwave cookware, a stainless steel water bottle, and some single serve meal packages will have a more lasting impact. You can get large ceramic mugs with vented lids that will heat enough to satisfy a late night hunger attack.

Steel water bottles are a great addition to care packages. They will keep drinks hot or cold long enough to get kids through their morning classes or an afternoon of studying. They also encourage your student to make her own morning coffee instead of opting for standing in line for expensive lattes. One serving packaged meals are a healthy alternative to a vending machine or a pizza delivery. They are a lot less expensive as well.

You can fill a practical care package with things like socks, laundry pods, and a phone charger with a long cord. Socks are a great idea and not something that everybody thinks about. Socks are one of those things that always seem to be in need. Sending extra pairs in a variety of colors will be appreciated.

Things like detergent and cleaning supplies are expensive for kids on tight budgets. Throwing in disinfecting wipes and air fresheners with the pods is a good idea. Sending a charger with an extra long cord will allow them to keep the phone with them wherever they are in a room.

Things can get tense on campus, especially during finals. A basket filled with toys will make a good diversion between cram sessions. You can fill it up with small items like frisbees, paddles and balls, and an over the door basketball hoop complete with foam basketball. Squeeze toys and slinkies are good ideas for a kid with limited space and tests coming up.

Student apartments and dorm rooms can be pretty plain without decorations. Sending some holiday accessories will give new roommates a chance to get to know one another better. Spending time planning how and where to hang the garlands and lights you sent can be a bonding experience. A diffuser filled with pine scent will add to the general aura and mask unpleasant odors.

College kids love to get packages from home no matter what's in them. If it is something they can use and enjoy so much the better. It makes a strange place feel more like home.
