Applying New Sunless Tanning Lotions, Gels And Spray Suntan Creams

By Haywood Hunter

Sunless tanning lotions are popular in use due to a number of reasons. These products are much safer than receiving natural sun tans and risking sun damage. Many of the self-tanning lotions and creams that are available on the market provide natural looking tans in a much safer way.

There are several different kinds of tanning products that are available. Other than creams and lotions, there are sprays and gels that can be applied to the skin. Any of these products eliminate the harmful sun exposure to receive a tan. Individuals that like to remain tanned throughout the year are advised to use sunless tanning lotions.

Many of the self-tan lotions contain a chemical named dihydroxyacetone or DHA. This is an FDA-approved product that is applied to the skin. When the dead cells of the skin comes into contact with this compound, the amino acids within the skin cells react causing the skin tone to darken.

The newer tanning products do not rely on pigments of stains to darken the skin. These pigments often stain clothing and provide an artificial looking tan that is not very appealing. Many of the older products leave an orange hue to the skin but the new sunless tanning lotions offer more natural looking results.

There are many advantages to using these types of tanning lotions and creams. Users avoid the harmful effects of UV exposure. This type of exposure is linked to skin cancer but the sunless tanning products do not require exposure to the harsh rays of the sun. Many of these products also include sunscreen to protect the skin.

The Sunless tanning lotions are a much safer alternative than constant sun bathing. The products are easy to apply and will not smudge or quickly fade away. The results leave a natural bronzed tan that is very appealing. This is also a less expensive way to receive a sun tan as constant visits to the salon can be very costly.
