How To Win The Michigan Dance Competitions

By Walter Lee

If you are preparing for the next music contest, you have to take a lot of time to practice if you aspire to win. Although you can rehearse for months, you will still feel jitters when you get on stage. Sometimes, you may become so anxious such that you end up messing up big time. Therefore, apart from practice, confidence is critical. The tips below will help you counter your fear and perform flawlessly in the Michigan Dance Competitions.

A fearless dancer makes the judges fall in love with his/her performance. Therefore, put fear aside and master courage. If you fear he judges, you will surely fail. Therefore, make sure you are confident enough. Believe that you are the best and do your best. Another thing, ensure that you maintain eye contact with all the judges. Put up a smile, even if it is fake. This way, the judges will believe in you.

If you are dancing alone or with a group, make sure that your choreography is on point. Choreography has always been the king in all music contests. Therefore, if you want to impress the judges, make sure all your steps are in coordination. Watch each other so that you do not miss steps. Bring out the emotions of the song through your steps and make the audience stare in awe.

For you to win in any contest, you must rehearse. Put in as many hours as possible for your practice. Even if the contest is due in six months, start practicing as early as possible. Learn all the steps that have been troubling you. By the time the contest takes place, you will be so perfect and grateful that you took enough time to rehearse.

While dancing, avoid hiding your face. Judges need to see the emotions registered on your face. They want to read the story on your face. Therefore, make sure that your face is always visible. Utilize every part of your body because a good dancer dances with every part of the body.

Warm up is essential if you are at the backstage. Most people become overconfidence such that they ignore warming up. This is very important as you will make your body and muscles more relaxed and less stiff. More so, your body will be more flexible before the performance. As you wait for your turn, select a peaceful spot and warm up.

Be calm. Do not be overwhelmed while performing. Know that contests come and go but you will still be a dancer. Do not feel low about yourself or feel intimidated just because you think that the next crew will outshine you. Believe in yourself and simply do your best. Being calm is the best way to master courage and confidence while on stage.

Most importantly, learn to balance between the moves and emotions. Coordinate every part of your body, from head to toes. Release the anger in the song through the steps and emotions. A great dancer does not think about anything else apart from the performance. Therefore, make sure your mind is clear and get entirely absorbed in the song you are dancing to.
