Why Take A CPR AED First Aid Certification Online

By Leslie Ball

Pulmonary arrest occurs when the muscles of the heart cannot contract adequately to push blood to other parts of body. If this happens, it may cause tissue death. When you have a CPR AED first aid certification online, you can save the life of an individual who has been attacked by pulmonary arrest. Many a times, people think that because they have not encountered any situation that needs a person to be resuscitated, they may not require taking the course.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation may be applied through chest compressions or rescue breathes. In chest compressions, the person providing the procedure initiates the compressions in chest in a sequential manner. This allows the heart to have impulses or electrical shocks that make it continue pushing blood in such times of an emergency.

Mouth-to-mouth resuscitation or rescue breathes are intended to also help in breathing. When the chest compressions and rescue breathing are coupled with use of an external defibrillator, it could see significant results in saving lives of people. The automated external defibrillator is used to produce electrical shocks to the heart to allow it to beat temporarily, as an emergency help is being sought. CPR and AED can be taken by people in workplace to help when emergencies arise that need resuscitation.

The trainings may also be taken by professional rescuers who work in areas such as swimming pools and schools. Healthcare providers and general public may as well take these courses. Resuscitation is one skill that everyone needs to know. With the increased risks of heart related complications affecting people, it is crucial that there are more people knowledgeable about resuscitation.

It is not a complex procedure and anyone can perform it provided that they have the right training. In order to be able to do the chest compressions by hand, or use the external defibrillator machine, you need to have trained properly. Resuscitation training has been around for many decades and it is surprising to note that not many people have acquired the skill.

It is projected that close to 70 percent of people are not able to offer resuscitation in a situation of cardiac arrest. It may arise because such people, though they have trained in resuscitation, they are not confident of themselves, they lack the skill, or they are confused. You may have the CPR training but you cannot be able to do the resuscitation.

It is only a matter of few minutes before that person is pronounced dead. The medical team may arrive in about 8 to 12 minutes but that is not a sufficient time to allow one with a pulmonary arrest condition to survive. This condition will not allow one to stay alive for not more than five minutes and if nothing is done in those first minutes, the chances of one surviving are just too slim.

You do not know what will happen the next minute and it could strike right at your home where your parent, spouse, or children is attacked by the condition. When pulmonary arrest strikes, a patient has just a few minutes to survive. It takes less than 5 minutes for one to collapse. This time is just too short for such person to be taken to hospital and arrive alive.
