Coping Up With Catholic Grandparents

By Francis Riggs

If you need to try to patch things up with these people despite your differences, then this source can certainly help you with that. Be reminded that there is no need for you to fight with these individuals. They are old and their temper has nothing to do with the fact that they do love you.

For starters, you would have to be on the offensive side as much as possible. Keep in mind that it is not your fault that you have Catholic grandparents. You would just have to try to be on their good side until the day is over. If you would do that, then all of you would have a good time when you least expect it.

You should learn to relax. Take note that you share the same blood with these people. If you will behave that you have done something wrong even when that is not the case, then you will only be triggering the other party. The key is to avoid the spotlight and not the other way around. That is how you will have the freedom you wanted.

If they will start to talk about religion, then simply listen. Be reminded that you are not the main star of the show as of the moment. You will have to let the elders talk about what they are passionate in this world and realize that you will gain your turn once they have already gone home to their own place.

You will have to possess reasonable expectations. Take note that the nature of one person is one of the hardest things to change in this world. If you will not accept that, then then you will only be setting up yourself for a big fall. If you can train yourself to not expect anything at all, then that will be better for the position that you are in.

Realize that there is no way that you would be able to win in here. There would always be two against you and the fact remains that they have already returned when you are still going through life. That is enough for you to recognize the age and that you ought to stay quite for once in your life.

Stay away from the liquor bar and a debate. Yes, you have your own religion but that does not mean that you are more righteous than those individuals who do not belong to the same group of yours. So, keep your humility intact and avoid alcohol for you not to say things that you will be regretting for the rest of your life.

Fight when that is already your last option. This does not pertain to physically hurting someone. Use words as your weapon and try to explain your side once and for all since you should save yourself.

Overall, find the safe zone that you can step on. If you think that the best way for you to get out of this is to stay quiet all day long, then so be it. Be humble.
