Moving On From The Past

By Evan Sanders

Stuck. Really stuck.

Our past is a place that can, at times, ruin our ability to enjoy the present moment. It can rip you back into events, emotions, thoughts, and situations that can be incredibly painful at times. It can define your entire life if you let it.

The biggest danger of an upsetting past is when you allow it to define who you are in this moment and who you will become in the future. When this happens, you have birthed a creature that can truly define the rest of your life.

So what can you really do to free yourself from the constraints of the past?

Repair it all. Repair everything that makes you cringe when you think about it. Will going back to the past be incredibly hard at times? Yes, of course. But going back into those events and situations where you didn't exactly handle yourself in the best ways can actually bring great peace to your life if you take responsibility for what you've done.

While repairing the past is great, it gives you access to something even greater - being truly present today. The only chance you have at living a full life is by living in the moment today. You can't go back to the past. Equally, you can't go into the future. You must be living right here and right now, no matter what.

While it's hard to not live in the past and equally hard to not live in the future, you must. You must because you can't go to either places and living there mentally will only take you out of creating grand possibilities today.

So be brave and come back to this moment. Come back to being right here and right now. Give yourself the chance to really live for once.

This moment is all you have.
