An Insight On The Male Perspective On Divorce

By Stella Gay

Unlike what most of the media would tell the people, it is not always the fault of the man when a marriage does not work out. Of course when divorce becomes an issue in this case, then the men will always be at a disadvantage because most of the laws regarding these cases are actually biased. According to the general male perspective on divorce, it can be seen that men are definitely the ones that will lose out.

One of the biggest issues that most men are fighting for today would be the custody of the children during the separation of the spouses. Now this is simply because the children are usually with the mother while the father is bringing back home the bread. So the court would assume that the mother would know more about taking care of the kids as compared to the father.

Of course this will create a rift between the father and the children because the children will think of him as a villain. Since the mothers are usually the ones that would spend time with the children often, then their influence is definitely stronger. Of course it is because of this that most children would side with their mothers.

Now there is also an issue about the fact that a man may lose his assets if his wife would want to fight for them after a divorce. Now the reason that the ex wife can fight for the assets is because after marriage, she would have access to those assets. Through a proper court procedure, the ex wife may actually be able to fight for the rights to those assets.

Now one very common issue with regard to the assets would of course be the house and the car. In most situations, the man is the one that pays for the house and the car. However, even if this is the case, the ex wife may actually snag ownership of their house or their family car for herself.

Another disadvantage for men is that they also have to pay their ex wives alimony for as long as they live. This is assumed to be for the children but even if the children are already grown up, the husband still has to give the ex wife the alimony. Even if the man is struggling with his own finances, his ex wife is still there to bother him.

Now the good thing here is that not all states or countries are extreme when it comes to the laws regarding alimony. Most states would go through the proper court procedures before the ex wife can be able to claim any support money. On the other hand, there are actually some states that would be more inclined to the favor of the woman.

Because of the gender biased laws, it can be clearly seen that divorce for men can be a living hell. Now with the strengthening of liberation, many men are fighting for their rights against these gender biased laws. Hopefully in the future, men can file for a divorce without having to deal with all those other headaches.
